The Loan Documentation Specialist is responsible for the accurate and complete preparation and/or review of Consumer, Commercial and Industrial, and Commercial Real-Estate loan documents. The Loan Documentation Specialist works closely with the lending staff and outside vendors to ensure closing documents are produced accurately and in compliance with bank policy and procedures. A successful candidate will participate in activities to improve departmental and bank efficiencies.

What You’ll Do at Fourth Capital

  • Maintain a solid foundation of knowledge in all areas of loan documentation and loan compliance.
  • Analyze and interpret the Credit Approval document and supplemental vendor information to determine borrower, collateral, and guarantor requirements, and ensure the production of appropriate documentation in compliance with the terms of the loan request.
  • Prepare and/or review new and renewed loan documents, ensuring that all comply with the credit approval document before releasing documents for execution for Consumer, Commercial C & I, and Commercial Real Estate loans.
  • Collaborate and provide feedback to lending staff on any concerns identified as it pertains to loan documentation.
  • Forward loan documentation package to Lending Staff with appropriate closing instructions and additional required documents if needed.
  • Resolve any issues related to the loan documentation process and procedures.
  • Interact with external vendors such as appraisers, title companies, and attorneys to ensure that appropriate loan documentation is obtained accurately and promptly.
  • Organize imaged documents for processing.
  • Serve as an administrator on loan documentation-related systems and projects.
  • Establish, foster, and maintain positive working relationships with team members, lending, operations staff, department managers, and other business partners.
  • Provide a high level of customer service when responding to internal departments to resolve issues.
  • Attend all BSA training (at least annually) offered through the bank. Depending on job responsibilities, more frequent and/or specific training may be required.

Required and/or Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ work experience in a financial institution.
  • Advanced understanding of bank policies and procedures; proficient in consumer and commercial lending, loans, and applicable loan documents.
  • Advanced understanding of loan accounting systems, loan payment types and processing, and ability to research and resolve accounting errors.
  • Knowledge of internal banking systems.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
